First, they make him economically helpless. This usually involves
getting him to join staff and then not paying him as promised. This
means that he is soon at risk of losing his home and his family.

They then accuse him of being a victim and the effect of other people.
This is rather like mugging a person and then criticising them for
allowing themselves to be mugged.

In fact there is a small grain of truth in the criticism. The
Scientologist HAS been the effect of other people and he DID create
the situation himself. He did this the moment he decided to trust
Scientology.

Many people collapse in upon themselves when treated in this way. If
they leave staff they are out ethics and a failure. If they continue
to allow Scientology to victimise them and run their lives they are
exactly the same.

In this way the cult trap people into no win situations so that the
only way to escape is to kill themselves.
